Hi Ladies n’ Gents!
Bride: Brandi
How She Wants To Look: Natural!
I am going to begin doing more posts about working with actual clients because I want to share my journey with you guys! Here recently it seems as if all the calls I have been getting are for weddings! Which is awesome! but I am like geeeeesh is everyone getting married? Where is my ring? #bitter! LOL
N e who! I would like to share some more tips on doing makeup on actual people. For example my bride Brandi! Before I get started I want to get in the head of my bride n’ find out EXACTLY what she is looking for…
#Tip I like to send out a questionnaire before I get started asking questions like:
1. Are you allergic to anything?
2. What is your ideal look?
I also like to know about any skin conditions or problems, what they use on there skin, ect.
Before you set up or do anything IF YOU DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN LIGHTS, FIND THE BEST PLACE IN THE AREA WITH GOOD LIGHTING!!! THIS IS CRUUUUUUUCIAL!!!!
After we found the best possible lighting n’ set up our station, Brandi must have a clean palette!!! Some of your clients may prefer they tone n’ moisturize there skin themselves n’ that’s fine!
#tip: always have moisturizers in your kit for Normal, Oily/Combination, n’ dry skin just in case they did not or do not moisturize there skin!
Next I added Smashbox photofinish primer! I love this primer because it really smooths out the skin n’ makes it look more hydrated. Since I asked all of my preliminary questions I knew that Brandi has oily skin, so I used Makeup forevers All MAT Primer! This is the best because it instantly sucks up all the oil n’ makes the skin feel baby smooth.
All while I was prepping her skin I was thinking of shadow colors n’ how I can make my client happy! I just wanted to “Enhance her natural beauty” With Brandi, I did her foundation first because for me that can usually take the most time! I mixed Makeup forever 173 n’ 185 to find her perfect shade!
#Tip: As far as the shadows it is recommended to not use a lot shimmery colors on the lid for flash photography
When I begin with the shadows I do one eye full out n’ let them see it first! Then they can tell me if they like more or less of what so on the other eye I can do it again. After the eye is created I adjust the other eye!
Lastly n’ most important Ladies n’ Gents! Listen to your client! Dig deep to ensure that you are creating that perfect look for them! If you do that they will be sure to pass your name along to others!
*Besos*
