Hi Ladies n’ Gents,
This year for The Makeup Show Chicago I had a game plan! Which was the following LOL
1. I made a list of everything I needed vs. wanted.
2. Set a budget
3. Paced myself n’ walked the floor a few times before buying=Not spend all of my money within the first 15 MINS. Which is something I would have done!
4. Try something new (i.e a new brand, etc)
Every Year I have my “Go To Booths”:
1. Alcone (here)
2. Crown Brush (here)
3. Nigels Beauty Emporium (here)
I will be adding a few more booths to my list for next year! You can never have enough Alcone sponges n’ makeup removing wipes, brushes, or lashes. Funny story, I always go a little crazy at the Crown Brush booth, which in fact I did this year. I got up to $218 worth of brushes n’ I politely told the person ringing me up that I have to rethink on a few of theses! LIKE REALLY? 218! I lost my mind…I quickly got it together though. I could see if I needed them, I do not, my collection is quite extensive I just went a bit overboard. LOL
Another great addition this year were the food trucks! After all that shopping you need to recharge…
I would have to say The Makeup Show Chicago this year has been the most rewarding. The demonstrations n’ speakers get better n’ better every year! I attended two Lianne Farbes n’ Buntricia…I learned a lot and both speakers where VERY informative! I meet some amazing artist and built new relationships. I totally wanted to attend more presentations but I choose to shop!
Tips:
1. Take inventory of your kits before you attend the show that way you can better formulate what you “Need vs. Want”.
2. Research the brands that are attending The Makeup Show Chicago. TMS always post the exhibitors list (Example Here)
3. Spend time trying out the products while you are at The Makeup Show.
4. Bring business cards n’ network with other people.
5. Allow yourself time to attend demos n’ shop!! Look at the schedule to determine if you need to attend one or both days.
6. Step outside of what you know! Try new products n’ things that you normally would not. Do not limit yourself. I stepped outside of the norm this year n’ tried different brands like graftobian (which is A-mazing by the way), n’ went up to a new booth to find out they carry Red Cherry Lashes (which I had been wanting forever but could never find a retailer online besides ebay).
7. Always ask for a receipt! If you are a registered business then you can write off all of these expenses of your trip n’ supplies!
I hope this helps n’ I hope to see you all next year!
