For the most part, my answer is “no”. It took me a long time to even tolerate it. I’ve seen a few people who wnet blond and it where it looked alright; mostly in loc’d hair. Otherwise, I have yet to be impressed.

Personally I feel that it depends on the complexion of the person. The picture above is great and MJB works it! But on the other hand if you have someone that’s Precious’ complexion with blonde hair, it just looks horrible!

Hey, thanks for the great article. Honestly, about five months ago I started using the internet and there is so much nonsense out there.

Love Mary J’s look. she’s an entertainer, and she spends
much to get her look. As for me, and the many sista’s I
know, sorry ladies … I appreciate the varied complexions
of black women, and I love the variety of hair-styles myu
models-friends employ…. but for me, blond is a no-no.
Sorry, I’ve seen too many black women wearing obvious
blond extentions 24-7, and it looks tacky. I don’t even
like blonds myself(white women) dark hair, brown hair,
auburn tint, all ok.

Hmm, I wouldn’t go for this look unless I could be made up to look like Mary everyday after I did it!

I have to agree that Mary looks gorgeous with this blonde hair, but it wouldn’t be a choice of mine. I think some women can pull it off, but I just don’t think it’s a color for me. I have tried other colors, but I just haven’t tried blonde.

Let me just start by saying I love my blonde hair! For so long I was all about being natural, no dye, no perm, but something came over me about a year ago, and I just took a chance. I get so many compliments, no joke! Everywhere I go someone tells me how much they love my hair and I keep my stylist’s cards on me for that purpose. Its just an enhancement to me! There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing something different and swaying away from the norm. I whole-heartedly agree with Vonnie, blonde is not right for… Read more »

In the past, I always felt like black women with blonde hair/weave (and colored contacts), were trying to hard to be something that we are not. It illustrated to some that we werent comfortable with who we are…
But now that Im older, I view it as self expression and the right not to be confined in a box.

I am not crazy about anyone coloring their hair no matter what color their skin is. If a black girl was born as a blonde, that’s fine. My point is I don’t respect coloring their hair to stand out or be notice.

she does look extremely gorgeous there. not all black women can wear blonde hair, and not all SHADES are right for certain skin tones. not all white or hispanic or asian women can rock blonde hair either. just depends, case by case
